Why I Don’t Design Spaces to Be Fully Understood
Not everything in a space needs to make immediate sense.
In fact, I find that the most interesting spaces are the ones you don’t fully understand at first glance.
Today, there’s a strong tendency to make everything obvious the function, the styling, the intention behind every element. Nothing is left to interpretation. Nothing asks you to pause.
But when everything is clear instantly, nothing stays with you.
I like spaces that unfold slowly.
A detail you notice only after spending time.
A corner that feels different depending on the hour.
A material that changes character as light shifts.
These are not dramatic gestures. They are quiet layers.
Because a home is not meant to be consumed like an image.
It’s meant to be experienced over time.
When a space reveals itself gradually, it builds a deeper connection. It allows curiosity. It invites you to engage, rather than just observe.
And that’s what makes it memorable.
I don’t design for instant clarity.
I design for lasting discovery.
