Why I Leave Some Spaces Unfinished on Purpose
Not every space needs to be completed.
That might sound strange, especially when the goal is to design a “perfect” home. But over time, I’ve realised that when everything is fully designed, fully styled, and fully decided — the space stops evolving.
And homes are not meant to be static.
I intentionally leave certain areas a little open. Not empty in a neglected way, but undefined. A corner that doesn’t demand attention. A wall that isn’t filled immediately. A space that allows change.
Because the way you live in your home will shift. Your routines, your habits, even your preferences — they won’t stay the same. And when a space has a little room to adapt, it grows with you instead of restricting you.
There’s also a certain ease in not forcing every detail. When everything is “done,” it can start to feel stiff. But when something is left slightly unfinished, it feels more natural, more breathable.
For me, design is not about locking a space into a final version.
It’s about creating a base that continues to evolve — quietly, over time.
