Why I Don’t Believe in “Statement Pieces” Anymore
There was a time when every space needed a highlight — a statement sofa, a bold wall, something that instantly grabs attention.
But over time, I’ve moved away from that idea.
Because the more I design, the more I realise — a space shouldn’t rely on one element to stand out. It should feel complete as a whole.
When a single piece tries too hard to become the focus, everything else starts fading into the background. And slowly, the space begins to feel unbalanced — like it’s built around an object, not around a life.
I prefer designing spaces where nothing screams for attention, yet everything feels right.
Where materials, light, proportions, and details work quietly together. You may not notice everything at once — but the more time you spend, the more the space reveals itself.
That’s a different kind of luxury.
Not loud, not immediate — but lasting.
I’m not against statement pieces.
But I don’t depend on them.
Because in the end, it’s not one element that defines a space.
It’s how everything comes together — effortlessly.
